Hello Students and Families,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year at Ruus Elementary!
On behalf of our entire staff, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to another exciting year of learning, growth, and opportunity. Whether you are returning to Ruus or joining our school community for the first time, know that you belong here. We are honored to partner with you and your family as we embark on a new year filled with endless possibilities.
At Ruus Elementary, we believe every child has unique strengths, talents, and unlimited potential. Our mission is to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment where every student is challenged to grow academically, supported socially and emotionally, and inspired to discover their passions. Together, we will nurture curious minds, compassionate hearts, and confident leaders who are prepared for success today and in the future.
This year, we are excited to expand opportunities that ensure every student receives the support they need to thrive. We will strengthen targeted interventions that accelerate learning, provide meaningful support for language acquisition so our multilingual learners continue to flourish, and deepen our commitment to social-emotional learning by helping students build resilience, empathy, self-confidence, and positive relationships. Through innovative instructional practices and purposeful integration of technology, we will personalize learning experiences that empower students to think critically, collaborate creatively, and develop the skills they need for an ever-changing world.
The heart of Ruus Elementary is our community. Families play an essential role in the success of our students, and we invite you to become an active partner in your child's educational journey. Whether through the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC), the African American Student Achievement Initiative (AASAI), the School Site Council (SSC), our Site-Based Decision Making Team, volunteering in classrooms, or participating in school events, your voice, talents, and involvement make our school stronger. Together, we can create an environment where every child feels valued, connected, and empowered to succeed.
One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is the opportunity to learn every day. Regular attendance and arriving on time help students build strong academic foundations, develop meaningful relationships, and fully participate in the rich experiences that make school a place of discovery and joy. Every day matters, and every student matters.
As we begin this new school year, I am filled with excitement and optimism for what we will accomplish together.
