Hello Ruus Families! 

Happy August. I hope that this message finds you enjoying your summer vacation. I wanted to reach out to share some updates with you all as we prepare for the 2025-2026 school year.

Construction is ALMOST finished and we look forward to our fully refreshed main building. With 22 newly refreshed classrooms featuring updated technology, furniture, HVAC systems, and more; our school is definitely ready to support 21st century learning.

When we come together on August 14, we will have many returning staff members along with some new faces. Mr. Samuel Parks will be joining our team teaching 6th grade coming to us from Eldridge Elementary. Mr. Seth Mijares will be stepping in as our new vocal music instructor, splitting time between Ruus and Eden Gardens. We are also excited to welcome back some former Ruus teachers including Ms. Lisa Flevotomos (Kindergarten) and Ms. Asia Jamison (SPED). Finally, we have some of our current staff working in new grade levels: Ms. Summer Ehigiator (5/6 combo class) and Ms. Pam Bozant (2nd grade)

We want to remind our families of the critical importance around the Student Information Update (SIU). This was formerly called “Parent Portal.” This is the process for which parents update their students' information including emergency contacts, etc. If you have changed addresses, trusted adults who can pick up your children, or have new information about your child (medical, etc.) it is important that this information is updated. 

I want to personally appeal to our community for a higher level of parent presence this school year. Whether serving as a parent ambassador, becoming a member of our school site council, or volunteering in your child’s classroom; we want to welcome our parents to Ruus. As many of you know, Hayward Unified has been navigating a budget crisis resulting in the loss of positions and former personnel. We are hoping that through parent participation we can offset some of these losses. Please reach out directly if you have ideas or for more information.
